We know that kids and parents have concerns about first dental visits, and we are dedicated to making your child’s visits to our office happy ones. Good oral health care should start early to ensure a lifetime of healthy teeth and a beautiful smile.

Your child’s first dental visit should be within six months of the eruption of their very first tooth. Some parents think that dental care isn’t necessary for baby teeth, but the truth is that even baby teeth can develop cavities, and gum disease and other oral health problems can occur in very young children. The first appointment is about getting to know us and a learning experience for both you and your child.

At the first visit, you can ask any questions you have about your child’s oral health care. New parents usually have a lot of questions, and we can give you all the information you need to understand the dental changes your child will be undergoing over the next few years. We can help you to help your child understand that good oral hygiene is important and that it can be fun. We will also help your child to become familiar with our office and make sure that they are comfortable at the very first visit. Our goal is to make every visit to our office a positive experience for your child. Children who start seeing the dentist early and learn to see dental visits as in a positive way are more likely to continue making regular dental checkups a routine part of their life throughout their adulthood.

When you call to make an appointment for your child’s first visit, we can tell you exactly what will happen at that first appointment so that you can prepare the child ahead of time. We want you to be able to communicate to your child exactly what he or she can expect during the visit to our office so that there are no surprises. This is also an opportunity for us to answer any preliminary questions you may have without your child present. When dentists and parents work together, the child will have a better experience and better oral health.
